IAD - Presentation Week

So this week we had to present our findings on the subject that we have selected, i selected the future of football on the web.

My topics included;

  • Streaming football on the web for a price and for free
  • Buying a share in a football club via the web
  • The impace social media sites have on footballers
Overall my presentation went well, I felt I presented my information nicely and everything went smoothly. The only bad point was my time keeping. I went slightly over my time limit but I would rather have more to talk about that nothing at all.

It seems like everyone elses presentations went well too. I liked Charlies presentation on the differences in men's and women's football and how they are represented on the web.

Internet Applications Development

After finally remembering my password for this blog that I set up in my first year of University I managed to edit out the rubbish and start fresh.

For one of my modules at University I was asked to evaluate a website using some common tools.
The website I chose was The Ghana Learning Project, I have a friend who volunteers for this organisation so I picked their website to evaluate.

The First tool i used was Website Grader, I found this website very useful and it provided me with detailed information about the website. How long the domain has been active for, meta-tags and how many images were on the site.

Overall I found this tool quite useful.

The second tool I used was Browser Shots, I've used this tool before and found it very useful, I compared Firefox, Chrome, Safari and SeaMonkey and the only browser in which the website was not viewable was Firefox.

The last tool i used was Website Optimization, the information that was most useful was the download times from each speed of connection. I found this very useful as I have logged on the site from Ghana and it has taken me some time. Now I can see that having less images on the site would improve download time.
